The Tahoe High-Altitude Rowing Center is the rowing “arm” of the North Tahoe Aquatic Center (NTAC) on Lake Tahoe. We offer high-altitude training, sculling and coastal rowing camps and clinics with world-class coaches, many of whom have Olympic experience. We also host community learn-to-row programs - and we are home base for the Tahoe Rowing Team.

Our programs - flat water and coastal - focus on small boat skills and performance conditioning at high altitude. Mastering the single scull - and small boats - is foundational for excellence in all rowing disciplines. The boat feel and movement, precision, and balance required in these boats translate into improved performance across all boat classes. Whether you're drawn to the solitary challenge of the single or the synchronized power of an eight, honing your skills in the single will elevate your performance in any boat class.  Training at high altitude is a well-known strategy for  improved performance, increased aerobic capacity, and better endurance.

Our coaching program is meant to immerse you in small boat rowing, on 192 miles of exceptional, pristine waters (lake visibility - meaning looking down through the water - is over 65 feet!). Our mission is to help you develop the ability to move your boat with both power and finesse. Our coaches are dedicated to each athlete, ensuring that session are tailored to unique needs and goals. And yes, sweep rowers are more than welcome to join and learn sculling with us!

Join us at the Tahoe High Altitude Rowing Center and become part of a community dedicated to excellence. Improve your performance with the benefits of high-altitude training and take your sculling to new heights in the beautiful environment of Lake Tahoe.

Our coaching staff has over 100 years combined rowing experience including youth, collegiate, and Olympic experience.

Join Us on Tahoe - A Rowing Paradise

Lake Tahoe has long attracted rowers to its pristine, clean waters. From North Lake Tahoe to the South Shore, numerous rowers ply the waters in the calm morning hours. The US National Team has even trained in the Tahoe area in past years as part of their high-altitude conditioning program.

The Crown Jewel of Alpine Lakes

Lake Tahoe is the largest and oldest lake of its kind. Often overlooked for rowing, Tahoe is an oasis of shimmering greens, turquoise and blues against a strikingly beautiful mountain backdrop. Due to its incredible clarity and depth, the colors of the lake are surreal - and its the perfect place to train with like-minded athletes and coaches in search of the ‘perfect stroke’.
